The dust is settling. We should talk.

A rooftop, a small group, and one big question.

Hey everyone,

It's James. It's been a while.

The last time we were in a room together was August. Since then I've been heads down on client work, figuring out how AI fits into my own practice, and honestly just trying to keep up with how fast everything is moving.

Here's what I keep coming back to: the ground shifted. Not just the tools. Cursor, Claude, Bolt, v0, Stitch, all of that. But the way we think about design work feels different now. What we prototype, how fast we ship, who we collaborate with, what "senior designer" even means when AI can generate a decent wireframe in 30 seconds.

I don't have a clean take on all of it. But I have a rooftop in downtown Durham, a handful of people I want in the room, and a desire to have the conversation.

I'm putting together a small DJRDU comeback event on Friday, May 8 on the roof top of 1 City Center in Durham. Not a presentation. Not a panel. A facilitated conversation with 8 to 10 senior practitioners about what actually changed and what it means for how we work.

More details coming soon. But first, I'm curious where your head is at.
